Three Garden Favorites

Looking for some low-maintenance, fast-growing perennials to plant this year? Our top three picks are Knock-Out Roses, salvia and English lavender. All are thriving in our small garden and we’ve spotted them blooming in other areas around the neighborhood.

We are really impressed with the Knock-Out Roses. They’re disease-resistant and drought-tolerant, have a long blooming period (spring to first frost) and add a lot of color to any garden. You can find them at Home Depot in Hyattsville and Behnke in Beltsville and we heard Lowe’s in Laurel also has some in stock.

Read about the research behind the success of Knock-Out Roses.
