If it’s First Friday, it’s time for art at Busboys and Poets in Hyattsville.
On the first Friday of the month, the restaurant and performing arts space hosts a group of Washington-area artists to discuss their work.
Artists working in mediums as diverse as sculpture, photography and painting are invited to present their works. Some do a slideshow, while others bring their works with them. After the presentation, the audience is invited to ask questions.
The Howard Zinn Room, where the art is presented, can hold up to 150 people, but so far the largest group has been 30 or 40, said Busboys hostess Tamarra Royal.
“Each First Friday, we’re trying to promote it a little more and get more people to come out,” she told Hyattsville Wire.
First Fridays last from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Attendees over 21 get a ticket for a free glass of wine from the bar with complimentary fruit and cheese, and pita and hummus.
