The Hyattsville Wire caught up with Brian Jay Jones, award-winning biographer and fellow Marylander, who is writing the first biography on the legendary Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets.

As many of you already know, Henson grew up in the Hyattsville area, attended Northwestern High School and the University of Maryland.

The biography will be published by Random House/Ballantine and is scheduled to be released on Sept. 24, 2013, which would have been Henson’s 77th birthday.

While your waiting for the biography to hit shelves, you may want to check out “Jim Henson’s Tale of Sand,” which was written by Henson and his writing partner Jerry Juhl and released earlier this year.

  1. John Essex says:

No, he didn’t grow up in the “Hyattsville area.” He grew up in the Town of University Park. It’s okay to admit that he didn’t live in Hyattsville!
