On average, Hyattsville homes have sold for about one percent more than the listing price — the best ratio in the Washington area.
That’s according to a study by RealEstate Business Intelligence for the Washington Post.
The study found that homes in the 20783 ZIP code, which mostly runs along Riggs Road from Eastern Avenue up past the Beltway, were tied with a D.C. ZIP code for the highest average sale to original list price ratio in the D.C. market in 2013.
The newspaper called this finding one of “a few surprises,” but it quoted a Realtor familiar with the area who wasn’t that surprised:
“We’ve stabilized in this area as far as the market goes,” Kimberly James of Long & Foster said. “This area in particular has a lot of things that are happening that make it desirable. We have the Route 1 corridor plan being worked on. We have the Purple Line. We have a new magnet school in College Park. Hyattsville’s old town has been renovated. There’s just a lot of stuff going on that makes it very attractive.”
That particular ZIP code borders Takoma Park and the University of Maryland Golf Course, giving it some extra boost.
