A Washington, D.C.-based architecture firm is behind three major projects in Hyattsville and College Park.

MV+A Architects is working on two mixed-use development projects on Route 1 alone: College Park Place and the Cafritz property at Riverdale Park.

The planned College Park Place will be built on four acres along Route 1 with a 156-room Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, street level shops and restaurants, as well as a CVS Pharmacy, all within a five-minute walk to the University of Maryland.

MV+A says the architecture will work with the tradition of the university with the hotel to include finely crafted brick.

The firm is also working on a planned 30-acre mixed-use development on the Cafritz property at Riverdale Park that will encompass over 180,000 square feet of retail and office space, including Prince George’s County’s first Whole Foods Market.

Its third project is the new Safeway supermarket at East West Highway. The firm  originally came up with a more comprehensive design that would have included a condominium building, but the project was scaled back.

The three projects put MV+A in the company of Streetsense, the Bethesda-based firm that also has a hand in several projects along Route 1.
