You don’t have to travel far from Hyattsville to visit a real working farm.

The University of Maryland in College Park has a campus farm that is open to visitors during regular business hours. The Hyattsville Wire visited recently and it had all the horses, cows, sheep and goats you would want to see.

Used primarily by agriculture students at the college, the campus farm features three barns, a chicken house and some outdoor areas for the animals.

From Baltimore Avenue, turn left onto Campus Drive and then right onto Regents Drive at the traffic circle with the big “M.”

Visits at the farm are free, but if you’d like to donate to the planned $6 million revitalization effort, go here.
