Route 1’s Electric Car Charging Stations Take Off

Hyattsville electric car charging station

The city of Hyattsville has added more electric vehicle charging stations to Route 1.

The new charging stations are located in the municipal lot behind the post office on Gallatin Street, around the corner from Vigilante Coffee. This is part of a larger effort to install as many as 10 vehicle charging stations at three public parking lots for the general public to use free of charge.

They add to a growing number of local charging hotspots, including the municipal parking lot behind Crossover Church in Hyattsville; the Whole Foods at Riverdale Park Station; several garages at the University of Maryland; the parking lot behind the Original Ledo Restaurant, MOM’s Organic Market, IKEA and the Cherry Hill Park campground in College Park.

Here’s a good map from PlugShare showing you the location of all the local charging hotspots.

The area from Mount Rainier to Brentwood is pretty barren right now, but both Studio 3807 and Artisan 4100 developments will have electric vehicle charging stations bringing even more to the Route 1 corridor.
