The Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa at the Hotel at the University of Maryland is finally ready to open its doors.
According to hotel staff, the high-end spa chain will open on the ground floor of the $180 million hotel and conference center along Route 1 on Friday, May 18.
Apart from being an amenity open to hotel guests, the 5,200 square foot spa will put the Route 1 corridor in line with such upscale D.C. locations as the Willard InterContintental Hotel in D.C., the area around Saks Fifth Avenue in Chevy Chase and Pentagon Row in Arlington.
The area already has a number of hair and nail salons, including Ivy Lounge in Riverdale Park and Essential Day Spa in Hyattsville’s Arts District, and retail developers like them because they are considered “Amazon-proof.”
The spa’s services range from a traditional facial for $85 to $550 for an ultrasonic exfoliation, lactic acid peel and “microcurrent” electrical stimulation followed by a vitamin C mask and LED light therapy
