Get a Sneak Preview of Savor at Studio 3807

The soon-to-open Savor at Studio 3807 will offer a sneak preview of its offerings Thursday, July 19.

The artisanal food hall, which will open on the ground floor of an upcoming apartment building in Brentwood later this summer, will provide a sample of its offerings at a reception before the 8 p.m. performance of “#poolparty” at Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mount Rainier.

The play, by well-known Hyattsville actor Jennifer Mendenhall, is based on correspondence between officials with the Prince George’s Community Pool in Mt. Rainier and Raymond Bowlding, a local black man, who worked with the NAACP to desegregate it.

Produced by Ally Theatre Co., which aims to engaged audiences with socially relevant plays, it has already garnered strong reviews and been featured on local TV news. Ally is also recording theatergoers own recollections of pool segregation. To participate, talk with them after the show or email info@allytheatrecompany.org.

Savor’s vendors include D.C. Sweet Potato Cake, a small commercial bakery; Sauce, a health-conscious cafe; Artisan Market, which offers local honey, produce and jam, among other things; and Commune Cocktail, which offers craft wine, beer and liquor.

The reception, which starts at 7 p.m., is available to anyone with a ticket to Thursday’s performance. Tickets are still available at bit.ly/AllyPoolParty. Use the code “FINALSWIM” to get a $5 discount.

The show’s final performance is Saturday at 8 p.m.
