Cava to Open in College Park on Nov. 30

The long-awaited Cava is now scheduled to open its new College Park location on Friday, Nov. 30, at 7350 Baltimore Ave. in the College Park Shopping Center.

This is an updated version of an article that ran earlier this month on the Hyattsville Wire that was retracted that said it would open Nov. 20. The new date of Nov. 30 has been confirmed by Chelsea Grieco, a spokeswoman for Cava, who the Hyattsville Wire spoke with this morning.

Cava College Park, as Grieco refers to it, is 2,477 square feet, seats 40 guests and will be open daily from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.

For its grand opening on Friday, Cava will provide the first 150 guests in line at 10:45 a.m. with a free meal. And all donations will go to City Blossoms, Cava’s local non-profit partner.

The Route 1 corridor’s newest eatery will open with its winter menu which includes seasonal roasted vegetables and a roasted tomato harissa soup.

The Rockville-based fast-casual chain will add another interesting twist to the college town’s dining scene, which has diversified greatly in recent years from pizza and sandwich shops.

College Park now has an outpost of the popular South African Nando’s chain, Korean streetfare SeoulSpice, Persian Moby Dick and Hawaiian poke Poki District, among others. But Cava, which has more than 50 locations nationwide, is particularly popular among the healthy-eating set on college campuses.
