Riviera Tapas Opening Soon in Riverdale Park

Riviera Tapas Riverdale Park restaurantThe new Riviera Tapas Bar will open across from Riverdale Park Town Center in December.

Area resident Hugo Bonilla, a former cook at Busboys and Poets on 14th Street, told the Hyattsville Wire that he just needs one more inspection in order to open the Mexican-Spanish restaurant before the end of the year.

Bonilla, who is originally from El Salvador, is planning a fusion of American, Spanish and Mexican tapas in contemporary and traditional cooking styles. Most dishes will cost less than $10 so that customers can share food.

He is one of three brothers and a brother-in-law who own a Spanish-Mexican tapas restaurant in downtown Silver Spring called La Malinche, which opened in 2012.

The restaurant would be one of the latest additions to Riverdale Park’s town center, which has seen renewed interest after the success of the nearby Riverdale Park Station. It will be across the street from Bikram Yoga Works, the expanding Town Center Market and the upcoming upscale fast-casual Vietnamese restaurant Banana Blossom Bistro.
