Old Maryland Grill relaunched its menu earlier this week as part of a rebranding effort by its new owners.
Started by longtime Hyattsville restaurateur Mike Franklin, the Maryland-themed restaurant in the Hotel at the University of Maryland has been under new management by hotel developer Southern Management since Oct. 1.
With that, the menu was revamped by the new management after it took over, Assistant General Manager Kristie Hall told the Hyattsville Wire.
Nicknamed OMG, Old Maryland Grill’s original menu was based off two and a half years of research by Franklin and his staff into signature Maryland dishes such as coddies, smoked beet kitfo and St. Mary’s County stuffed ham.
The new management has made tweaks to some of the signature dishes and reduced prices on a number of menu items.
While still including some Maryland specialties like crab cakes, the new menu leans more toward a standard American grill with hanger steaks, shrimp scampi and Atlantic salmon. It will also change seasonally.
