Congratulations to Benedict Gorman, winner of the Hyattsville Wire’s pop-up snow photo contest held on Instagram last week encouraging readers to submit their favorite photo of the most recent snowstorm along the Route 1 corridor. The winning photo above shows a snowy and serene Magruder Park at night.
Gorman, who is one of Hyattsville’s youngest photographers at just age 16, says his business mostly rests on taking portraits and family shoots, but that he especially loves photographing landscapes and wildlife.

What a lovely photo!
Great work, Benedict! You really captured a beautiful mood. I love the detail of the house right behind the cone of light, and the warm light in contrast with the cool tones.
Thank you Andrea!
Thanks so much for the feature!
And thank you Ms. Kenner!

And thanks you Ms. Kenner! I’m glad you like it.
Thanks Mrs. Widmer!
I hadn’t actually noticed the house when I took the photo, but it popped out at me in post and I was blown away by the accidental framing.
Isn’t it great when those little things happen?
Yes, a happy accident!
