Orangetheory Fitness will open in College Park on Thursday, Jan. 31.
Located inside the new Cambria Hotel at 8321 Baltimore Ave., the Florida-based chain offers high-intensity interval training in group sessions that use gamification techniques to get gym-goers to push themselves harder.
It’s already held some VIP-only classes and has offered “founder’s rates” for members who sign up now.
Orangetheory is the latest in a fitness boom along the Route 1 corridor that includes a Gold’s Gym at Riverdale Park Station, CrossFit Hyattsville, LA Fitness at Prince George’s Plaza, Planet Fitness at the Mall at Prince George’s and the iLoveKickboxing studio at University Town Center.
Aside from students at the nearby University of Maryland, it’s also conveniently located to the Hotel at the University of Maryland, a new WeWork and other startup spaces that are part of the university’s research park.
