Fishnet Restaurant Closes After Seven Years

Berwyn Height’s beloved Fishnet restaurant has closed after seven years.

A perennial contender on the Best of Route 1 poll by the Hyattsville Wire, the seafood restaurant on Berwyn Road was known for using fresh ingredients and having a homey neighborhood vibe.

It was a popular meetup spot for local civic groups, located right off the Trolley Trail in the historic district.

But owner Keyia Yalcin told the Diamondback that business slowed after the government shutdown late last year and never recovered, and the restaurant shuttered on Tuesday.

“You wouldn’t look on the surface and think it would affect us,” she said. “The reality is, a lot of [our customers] work for the government, whether that’s NASA or the FDA.”

Another outpost of Fishnet located in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon Marketplace remains open.

That’s not Berwyn Heights, it’s across the railroad tracks in Old Berwyn.

  2. James Huff says:

Right, this was pointed out in a previous article.

“Fishnet is not in Berwyn Heights, but in College Park. Berwyn Heights does not extend west of CSX tracks. The adjacant College Park neighborhood is called just Berwyn and has been in existance for over 125 years.”
