Savor at Studio 3807, the first food hall in Prince George’s County, is in the final phase of its county inspection and plans to hold its grand opening next month.
Located on the ground floor of the Studio 3807 apartments in Brentwood, the artisanal food hall will feature up-and-coming food vendors looking for start-up space to test out their business ideas as well as established vendors seeking a home base.
The space will feel like a scaled-down version of Union Market, the popular food hall helping revitalize a D.C. neighborhood just down the road. At 8,735 square feet, it’s about a fourth of the size of Union Market.
April Richardson, who heads the project, told the Hyattsville Wire they are planning to hold a grand opening on October 17 with a ribbon-cutting through October 19. Richardson is a practicing attorney and is also owner of Delectable Cakery and D.C. Sweet Potato Cake, which will have a stall at Savor.
Peter Siegel, CEO of Landex Development, which built Studio 3807 and is developing a second apartment building across Route 1 called Artisan 4100, told the Hyattsville Wire that he hopes Savor will serve as an incubator for small business.
The Route 1 corridor is certainly primed to play its part. The area is already home to entrepreneurs making coffee, beer, mead and honey.
