The owners of an upcoming Texas barbecue restaurant have bought longtime Riverdale Park institution Dumm’s Pizza & Subs .
Fernando and Debby Gonzalez, who own 2Fifty Texas BBQ, announced Tuesday that they will buy the pizza and sub restaurant located next door at 4704 Riverdale Road.
For now, they plan to keep the original recipes at Dumm’s, but over time they will add more seating as well as their barbecue to the menu.
“The first step in this endeavor is the addition of a custom-made wood smoker and the subsequent opening of BBQ Sundays,” the company wrote in a press release.
Eventually, they say that Dumm’s will have 2,700 square feet and 28 parking spaces.
Dumm’s was started nearly 30 years ago by Georgia and Mike Sotiriou in a building owned by her father which housed a general store at the time. The store moved down a block and became the Town Center Market, a popular spot for picking up a wide array of wine, beer and liquor.
The area around Riverdale Park’s town center has recently become a hotspot for new businesses, with the opening of Banana Blossom Bistro and Riviera Tapas and a bikram yoga studio slash coworking space.
