A Place To Walk To, which specializes in gourmet versions of comfort food classics, will open its doors at its new brick and mortar location at 6451 American Blvd., in Hyattsville’s University Town Center on Sunday, Jan. 26., from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. for a soft opening with regular hours to begin Monday, Jan. 27.

Owner Matt Samuels said the menu includes a variety of breakfast sandwiches and platters, such as chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and a salmon fillet. Lunch options include a fried chicken sandwich and a grilled cheeseburger with bacon onion jam along along with a variety of housemade sides like sausage gravy and biscuits.

Samuels told the Hyattsville Wire that many of the recipes come from his Guyanese grandmother, as well as his mother and two brothers.

Before opening the new location, Samuels was a former Division 1 college basketball player, did contract work for the federal government and opened a successful food truck which was frequently seen in Riverdale Park and Greenbelt, at area festivals and private events across the greater D.C. area since 2016.

He plans to reopen the food truck this summer or fall.

Hours of operation at A Place To Walk To will be Mondays and Wednesday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will be closed on Tuesdays.

(1/27/20 Update: After a soft-launch on 1/26, they have pushed back their grand opening to 1/29 and will be closed 1/27 and 1/28.)
