Vigilante Coffee Releases Its First Mockumentary

Vigilante Coffee is ready to join the ranks of Pawnee, Indiana, and Dunder-Mifflin.

The Hyattsville roastery recently filmed its own mockumentary about a fictional coffee shop where everything goes wrong, called “The Coffee Shop-Pilot Episode.”

“The idea came from our 10 years of experience in the coffee game and all the hilarious and sometimes awkward situations that can occur,” owner Chris Vigilante told the Hyattsville Wire. “Our awesome staff and incredible customers inspired all the characters and many of the scenes.”

Its first clip was just released and Vigilante is already writing a second episode with plans to film more.

He said the episodes take their inspiration from “The Office,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Seinfeld” and “just the classics in general.”

“We thought there ought to be a show about the experience of working in a retail coffee shop setting,” he said. “Many people can relate to the characters, the scenes, especially if they’ve ever worked in food service before.”

Vigilante said he hopes the show also honors Hyattsville, which is featured throughout the mockumentary.
