Streetcar 82 Brewing Co., a Belgian-inspired production brewery and tap room at 4824 Rhode Island Ave., in Hyattsville, is partnering with Southeastern Roastery and Arlington’s Maek Coffee on a new coffee-flavored amber ale available on tap starting in March.
The ale begins with coffee beans imported by Maek owner Paul Guo from a farming community in the mountains of Yunnan Province in China.
They are then roasted and cold-brewed by Southeastern Roastery, a specialty coffee roaster run by Candy Schibli in the D.C. area which plans to open a location in Riverdale Park.
Streetcar 82 then brewed 15 gallons of cold brew into an amber ale.
“This beer will be light, a touch sweet, and will taste like a lightly roasted cold brew coffee,” explained Streetcar 82 co-owner Mark Burke. “Perfect for the spring and the soon-to-be warmer weather!”
Streetcar 82 previously partnered with Vigilante Coffee on a coffee-flavored stout.
The partnership began when Burke, Shibli and Guo met in December. They decided to debut it in March because it is Deaf History Month and Women’s History Month.
“It’s inspiring to partner with makers who share similar values in their approach to their product during a time of year where we can honor past accomplishments in our communities,” Schibli said.
Streetcar 82 Brewing Co. first opened in 2017 and is now a go-to spot on the Route 1 corridor for good beer. It also offers a short class on American Sign Language for customers who want to better communicate with others who may be hard of hearing or deaf.
