[UPDATED AS OF MARCH 16, 12:58 p.m.]
With many area residents staying home and events canceled, local businesses along the Route 1 corridor will be hit hard.
Owners of mom-and-pop stores, especially, often have to dig into their own savings to stay afloat at a time like this and even major retailers and chain restaurants can be very negatively affected.
There are some things you can do to help right now even with the ongoing coronavirus: Buy a gift card to be used later, call ahead to order food for pickup so you don’t have to wait in line, or order delivery and request they leave it at your door. You can also go at off hours when there are few customers while maintaining social distancing.
