Maryland is opening four coronavirus drive-thru testing sites in Prince George’s County, including ones in Beltsville and Hyattsville.
As part of an effort to expand testing for the virus, Gov. Larry Hogan announced the sites, where residents can get tested for flu, strep throat, respiratory infection and, with a doctor’s approval, the coronavirus, while staying in their cars.
The sites are designed to minimize interactions between those who may be infected, medical personnel and other patients.
A walk-in testing site now open (not drive-thru) is at MedStar Health Urgent Care in Hyattsville, but you need a doctor’s approval to get tested. You can call 301-276-8800 for more information. You can also first do a video visit online by going to: https://www.medstarhealth.org/medstar-health-evisit/
Outside Hyattsville, it will be at the MVA testing site at 7401 Jefferson Ave.
In Beltsville, the testing site will be at the temporarily decommissioned Motor Vehicle Administration testing site at 11760 Baltimore Ave.
If you feel sick and believe you may have the coronavirus, stay home and call your doctor. Do not go into a doctor’s office, and only go to an emergency room if you are having trouble breathing or other extreme symptoms.
If your doctor approves, you can go to a drive-thru site, when they open.
If you do not have health insurance, you can sign up through Maryland Health Connection, the state’s Obamacare portal, through April 15 as part of a special enrollment period due to coronavirus.
For more information you can call the Prince George’s County hotline at: 301-883-6627 or go to health.mypgc.us/coronavirus.
