Enter the Hyattsville Wire Route 1 ‘At Home’ Photo Contest

[Updated May 4, 2020: Because everyone is losing track of time during the lockdown, we’re extending the Hyattsville Wire’s Route 1 ‘At Home’ Photo Contest to 11:59 P.M. Sunday, May 10 , giving you an extra week to get your photos in.]

With the greater D.C. area set to become the next hot spot in the pandemic and Prince George’s County the hardest-hit county in Maryland, Route 1 residents are helping to flatten the curve by staying home.

For many, this week marks a full month of quarantine. Others may still be going to work essential jobs, but otherwise hunkering down and avoiding other outside contact. Some are alone; others with family or roommates.

The Hyattsville Wire invites you to share your experience of life at home whether it’s an image portraying you coming home from an essential job, a snapshot taken in your backyard or around your neighborhood, or a photo taken at your dining room table. Share an image that says something about your time on the Route 1 corridor at home, from Woodridge, D.C. up to Beltsville, Maryland. We will randomly select one entrant to win a $150 gift certificate to a restaurant on the Route 1 corridor offering takeout and/or delivery.

To enter, simply follow the Hyattsville Wire on Instagram @hyattsvillewire, upload a photo by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 10. Add a one-sentence description of what the photo shows about your time at home and include @hyattsvillewire and the hashtag #rt1athomephoto in your description. Contestants are invited to enter as many photos as they want.

The winner will be announced on May 13 on the Hyattsville Wire.
