The city of Hyattsville will give out $1 million to local businesses and residents in coronavirus relief in coming weeks.
Under a plan approved by the City Council earlier this month, the city will give $500,000 directly to struggling local businesses, while relying on three local nonprofits to give another $500,000 to needy residents, as first reported by Route 1 Reporter.
The city grants of up to $10,000 will go to small businesses, minority- and woman-owned businesses, child-care centers and artists.
The rest of the money will be given to the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation’s Community Action Fund, Employ Prince George’s Hourly Employee Relief Fund and CASA de Maryland’s Solidarity Fund.
