The Hotel at the University of Maryland to Reopen on June 1

The Hotel at the University of Maryland in College Park will reopen on Monday, June 1, two and a half months after closing due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Some slight changes have been made to the hotel’s interior: hand sanitizer dispensers have been added, furniture in public areas is spaced to meet social distancing requirements and guides have been posted.

The College Park hotel has also updated housekeeping procedures with a focus on high-touch surfaces. Once a room has been sanitized, no one else will enter it until check-in.

“The Hotel has an existing standard of excellence that touches on the entire guest experience, including a high expectation of cleanliness,” said general manager Linda Westgate. “We have thoughtfully adapted our operations and implemented additional measures to ensure guests can relax, rejuvenate and rest during their stay.”

The conference centers have also been adapted to allow more distancing during programs, while catering options have been changed to reduce exposure.

Reservations can be made online, by calling 301-277-7777 or by emailing reservations@thehotelumd.com.
