Hyattsville’s Pyramid Atlantic Supports Black Lives Matter With Free Posters

Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, which is located in the Arcade Building in downtown Hyattsville, is supporting the Black Lives Matter protests by distributing free posters from six artists.

As part of a print-a-thon, volunteers are hand-printing posters with messages such as “Black Disabled Lives Matter,” “Black Children Matter” and “The time is always right to do what is right.”

The posters are by artists Risikat “Kat” Okedeyi, Michael Booker, John Ortiz, Gerald Watson, Hadiya Williams and Jennifer White Johnson.

“Pyramid is honored to distribute original protest poster prints for free in hopes that you will use them to support of artists of color and in the service of social justice,” the arts center wrote. “Tape ’em to your windows, tack them to telephone poles, or bring them to the White House.”

Kate Taylor Davis, executive director of Pyramid, told the Hyattsville Wire that 260 people and counting had already requested posters as of Thursday afternoon.

You can reserve posters to pick up curbside on Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. or some other time to be determined by going online here. Quantities are limited, but you can request more than one poster.

If you need more posters for an event, email create@pyramid-atlantic.org.
