Two DeMatha Catholic High School students in Hyattsville recently made Sports Illustrated’s watch list for top high school athletes from across the country.

Linebacker Gregory Penn III, who has committed to Louisiana State University, and defensive end Colin Mobley made the list of football players who are candidates for this year’s All-American team.

“Penn is an early-down run-stuffing linebacker with great activity level and range from sideline to sideline,” the magazine wrote. “He has the quickness and physicality to rack up tackles by the dozen, complete with tone-setting finishing power.”

Sports Illustrated described Mobley as a “capable pass rusher that shocks offensive linemen with his long and powerful arms.”

The school is part of the highly competitive Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. Like other local sports conferences, the WCAC is considering an abbreviated season this year.
