Marathon Deli in College Park Holds Grand Opening at New Location Monday

Marathon Deli just announced it will hold a grand opening at its new location on Monday.

Started in 1972, the College Park institution has moved around the corner to a new spot at 7412 Baltimore Avenue after its previous location was slated to be torn down to make way for new housing and retail.

The deli, which received a notable mention in the Hyattsville Wire’s 2019 Best of Route 1 reader poll for Best Place to Go Late at Night, will also be making some changes to its menu, including milkshakes and a gyro club sandwich, among other things.

The new location, previously home to The Red Boat Vietnamese fusion restaurant which closed last year, boasts a Greek-inspired storefront mural by artist Freddy Casttle as well as a University of Maryland Terrapin-themed mural inside.

During the pandemic, it’s offered takeout and curbside pickup as well as delivery through Grubhub, DoorDash, Postmates and Uber Eats or by calling 301-927-6717.

But this fall will likely be different than in the past, with the university starting fall classes online and asking students to stay inside.
