Pyramid Atlantic Art Center‘s latest exhibit is now up and open to the public with several safety precautions in place due to the pandemic.

Curated by Molly Ruppert, “Patterning” features prints, fabric art and sculptures from eight artists from around the greater D.C. area that play with the use of patterns.

One work by artist Sobia Ahmad, a University of Maryland graduate, features maps of her ancestral village in Pakistan digitally sewed onto delicate chiffon banners in repeating patterns.

The Hyattsville nonprofit, located at 4318 Gallatin Street, is limiting the number of people in the gallery at a time to allow guests to stay six feet apart. Masks are required, and the art center skipped its usual opening reception, so now would be a good time to send a small donation.

If you can’t make it in person, images of the artworks are also available online.

Executive Director Kate Taylor Davis told the Hyattsville Wire that the gallery “is a very low-key place to visit right now — in a good way.”

Entry is free, and no reservations are required. “Patterning” runs through September 13. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to. 8 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
