Hyattsville’s Franklins Opens New Outdoor Tiki Bar With Real Sand

Franklins in Hyattsville will open its new outdoor Tiki Bar today, Wednesday August 26, at 4 p.m.

The Hyattsville mainstay will serve drinks and food in to-go containers on a first-come, first-served basis at its “Quarantiki Room” in the parking lot underneath the bridge.

“We know this is a little different than the normal tiki bar, but we hope it provides a nice little get-away to relax, enjoy a yummy beverage (or 3) & feel like you’re at the beach,” it wrote on Facebook.

Franklin’s tiki bar features aqua-colored steel pillars, landscaping timbers, bamboo fencing, picnic tables made by local craftsmen, outdoor speakers to play music and real sand creating an authentic tiki bar atmosphere.

As in its outdoor biergarten and per state regulations, masks must be worn until seated and a maximum of six people are allowed at each table.

Franklins will have a special Tiki Bar menu, including its own Rumtaculars.

If you would prefer to stay home, Franklins now delivers pre-mixed Hurricanes (Jamaican dark rum, lemon juice and passionfruit syrup) in a Mason jar that can make up to four cocktails when poured over ice for $24.
