Three Route 1 communities are leading Maryland suburbs on home appreciation.
A recent survey by UrbanTurf found that Mount Rainier, Riverdale Park and Brentwood had double-digit increases in median home price from 2019 to 2020, putting them in the top four suburbs in Maryland.
Mount Rainier led the way, going from $395,000 to $465,000, a 17.7 percent increase.
After Takoma Park came Riverdale Park, going from $300,000 to $341,000, a 13.7 percent increase.
And in fourth place was Brentwood, which went from $319,000 to $356,500, an 11.8 percent increase.
Rockville and Glen Echo were also among the top six, but like Takoma Park, their median home price in 2020 was more than a half million dollars, making the Route 1 communities the most affordable.
