Wills Decorating in Hyattsville Adds Mural to TESST Building

The landmark TESST Building, now home to Wills Decorating, is the latest spot in downtown Hyattsville to get a new piece of public art.

Over the last few days, artist Julie Stockard Cooney has been painting a mural she calls “Love” on the exterior of the building at 5122 Baltimore Ave.

Cooney, who studied architecture at the University of Maryland, runs a design firm that offers faux finishes, murals, hand-painted lettering and other specialized interior painting services.

Downtown Hyattsville has become a hotspot for murals in recent years. Across the street, Franklins Restaurant and Brewery has a 40-foot mural lit by a color-changing LED light. Around the corner Vigilante Coffee has another colorful mural.

The nearby Instagram-ready “Handmade in Hyattsville” mural and the Polka Dot Park are also popular.
