Federalist Pig will open a barbecue trailer outside its future Hyattsville location in October, as it pushes back plans to open the restaurant.

The Michelin-recognized Adams Morgan barbecue joint has long planned to move into the former home of The Tire Place at 5504 Baltimore Ave. across from the street from the Shoppes at Arts District Hyattsville.

The opening has now been rescheduled for next spring, as the coronavirus pandemic has upended the restaurant industry.

But owner Steve Salis wasn’t just adding another location but also expanding the amount and kinds of barbecue that they make with a larger space, which would also cook for the Adams Morgan location.

In the meantime, the mobile kitchen will offer food for carry-out and delivery, with some picnic table seating on site.
