College Park’s Proteus Bicycles held a soft launch for its new in-house coffee shop beginning this week.
For now, Proteus Brews is offering curbside service only, with no cash transactions, but owner Laurie Lemieux told the Hyattsville Wire they are planning a grand opening with expanded hours and a broader menu in November.
Located at 9827 Rhode Island Ave. near the Mom’s Organic grocery store, Proteus Brews serves Stevensville-based Open Seas Coffee Roasters, which emphasizes sustainability.
The menu includes espresso drinks, homemade chai, cold brew, pour-overs, green and black tea and freshly baked scones and cookies from Hyattsville’s Shortcake Bakery. You can also buy whole beans to grind at home.
Drink orders can be made ahead of time online here. Credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted.
The cafe’s current hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 am. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. It is closed Mondays.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, Proteus is offering limited shopping inside its shop including shoes, clothing and bicycles.
