The extended vote count during the presidential election has led some residents along the Route 1 corridor and others to head down to the Black Lives Matter Plaza and White House to either protest, show their solidarity, or just check out the scene.
So far, the atmosphere has been more festive than tense, with some people singing along to an anti-Trump rap song blasting from a loud speaker, live drumming and prayers being given over a mic, while an overwhelming number of nearby buildings including restaurants, hotels and others businesses have been boarded up as a precaution.
This afternoon, the Hyattsville Wire took a trip down to the plaza and White House and here’s what we saw.
