Hyattsville’s Streetcar 82 Makes an Appearance in Netflix Show

Streetcar 82 Brewing Co. and its staffers are featured in two episodes of the new Netflix reality TV series “Deaf U.”

Set at nearby Gallaudet University in D.C., the show follows a group of deaf and hard-of-hearing students as they attend college and, this being reality TV, have various relationship dramas.

Some of those dramatic moments take place at Hyattsville’s brewery, which is run by three Gallaudet graduates and is a popular hangout for the greater D.C.’s deaf community as well as local residents and others looking for well-crafted microbrews.

Co-owner Mark Burke and Assistant Brewer Zane Pederson both have cameos in episodes four and six of the series.

The show was created by model and activist Nyle DiMarco, best known for appearances on “America’s Next Top Model” and “Dancing with the Stars.” The crew was made up of an unprecedented 50 percent deaf and hard-of-hearing workers.
