Riverdale Park Spanish-Mexican fusion restaurant Riviera Tapas has added new, stylish propane heaters to its outdoor patio just in time for winter.
Like other restaurants along the Route 1 corridor, the tapas eatery is hoping that outdoor dining can supplement the delivery business its relying on to stay afloat during the coronavirus pandemic.
Its outdoor patio can seat up to 20 people, with tables spaced six feet apart, but you will need to call ahead, co-owner Patricia Martinez told the Hyattsville Wire.
You can already order Riviera Tapas on Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub and Chownow, and you can now also call the restaurant directly at 240-825-3868 for free delivery within 25 miles.
“This is something we started to do in order to be able to keep our employees working,” Martinez said. “We are working to set up an online ordering system that will allow customers to send us orders directly.”
Riviera Tapas opened in February 2019, less than two years ago, in the former S&J bar building and was part of a renaissance for the historic downtown in Riverdale Park.
The restaurant is open 4 to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. They will be open 3 to 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve and noon to 3 p.m. on Christmas Day, with the same schedule on New Year’s.
