Denizens Brewing Co. co-founder Julie Verratti used to work on political campaigns and for the Small Business Administration.
During the coronavirus pandemic, she’s put that experience to use, advising other business owners on how to navigate the federal bureaucracy and lobby elected officials for relief and speaking up about the effects on craft breweries.
Verratti was recently featured in an hour-long podcast for Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine, discussing the Riverdale Park brewery’s response to the pandemic and giving tips on connecting with local officials and state and federal lawmakers.
Denizens was also featured on the cover of the winter issue of the Brewing Industry Guide and highlighted in Craft Brewing Business and an ongoing series in the Washington Business Journal about the brewery’s response to the pandemic.
In that interview, Verratti predicted that indoor dining would again be curtailed, just as its getting too cold for many customers to dine outside. She said they would focus more on delivery and pickup, building off its successful Beermobile program, and doing more bottling.
“We’re going to be bringing some beers back that we’ve made over the years, even coming out with a new line of beers in 2021,” she said. “Just trying to be creative in terms of the products we’re putting out there, as well as the experience for guests.”
