Restaurant owners along the Route 1 corridor have until the end of day Friday, Jan. 22, to apply for grants worth up to $25,000 to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
Prince George’s County has set up a $3.3 million fund to help restaurants, food trucks, farm stands and catering companies hurt by restrictions on indoor dining and the economic downturn.
Grants from the Restaurant Resiliency Fund can be used to help winterize outdoor seating, expand takeout and delivery services, buy personal protective equipment or just manage operating expenses.
With restrictions going back into place last month, some Route 1 restaurant owners have said they can’t make it much longer.
Some have turned to fundraisers on GoFundMe to stay afloat. The Cornerstone Grill & Loft in College Park has raised $81,164, while the nearby Bagel Place has raised $45,221.
Meantime, a charitable drive called Greater Riverdale Cares has raised $76,772 to buy meals from local restaurants and donate them to struggling families during the pandemic.
