Denizens Adds ‘Ghost Restaurant’ Serving Home-Cooked Italian Food

The newest restaurant in Riverdale Park technically doesn’t exist at all.

As part of a pandemic-inspired trend of “ghost restaurants” that exist only virtually, Denizens Brewing Co. at Riverdale Park Station has started serving a full menu of Italian dishes to customers for pick-up and dining in.

The virtual restaurant is called Sunday Gravy, after a meaty marinara sauce associated with home cooking that is a signature dish on the menu.

Main dishes rotate every other week, with the current lineup featuring linguine with meatballs, spinach lasagna and mini cannolis.

Italian food was a natural choice for Executive Chef Tom Lozupone, who previously worked at the Tuscan restaurant I Ricchi, and co-owners Emily Bruno and Julie Verratti, all of whom are Italian-American.

To order from Sunday Gravy, go to Denizens’ online order form here.

I don’t understand how a place that already serves food can add a ‘ghost restaurant’. Sounds to me like they just expanded on their menu. Now if the Xfinity store started serving food for carry out only, that is what I would consider a ‘ghost restaurant’.
