Federalist Pig may not be ready to open its new Hyattsville restaurant, but it is doing the next best thing: serving barbecue from a food truck in the parking lot of the home of its future location.
Starting today, the popular Adams Morgan barbecue joint is serving its extensive menu out of its Fedmobile in the parking lot of its future location in Hyattsville at 5504 Baltimore Ave., as part of a soft launch. The menu includes brisket, pulled pork, crispy bork belly, smoked turkey and chicken, as well as North Carolina, Texas, Kansas City-style sandwiches and sides like crispy Brussels sprouts, coleslaw and loaded French fries.
For now, they’re only offering carry-out, with the hopes of adding delivery in the near future, and if permitting allows they may add picnic tables in the parking lot later on in the spring or summer.
By the end of the summer, Federalist Pig hopes to finish construction of their sit-down restaurant in the garage space on the same site that was formerly home to The Tire Place.
The Fedmobile is open from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and then noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sundays. It plans to expand those hours in the coming weeks depending on neighborhood demand.
