Banana Blossom Bistro has joined the trend of restaurants on the Route 1 corridor offering dining al fresco.

The popular Riverdale Park Vietnamese restaurant has started putting tables outside on sunny days with a special contactless order and pay option.

“You simply scan a QR code using your phone to access our menu and after payment your order gets sent directly to our kitchen, and once everything is cooked to order we will bring it outside,” owner Annie Esguerra told the Hyattsville Wire.

For customers who find that too complicated, wait staff can also provide handheld devices to take orders and payments on request.

The tables are a half-step back toward indoor dining. Like other local restaurants, Banana Blossom Bistro has focused mostly on takeout and delivery during the coronavirus pandemic.

Esguerra said the restaurant will offer even more outdoor seating in the spring. Nearby Town Center Market and Riviera Tapas also offer patio seating.
