Seven Route 1 Restaurants Get Shout-Out in Washington City Paper

Washington City Paper has recommended a road trip of sorts along the Route 1 corridor for D.C. foodies.

The alt-weekly’s new list of seven Prince George’s County restaurants, to check out, which are all on the actual corridor, stretches from Mount Rainier to Riverdale Park. The picks are:

Pennyroyal Station: The Mount Rainier restaurant is praised for its “comfort food staples” and neighborhood support.

Era Wine Bar: The upcoming wine bar next to Pennyroyal Station isn’t open yet, but it’s already being highlighted as a reason to visit.

Little Miner Taco: The story notes that fans of the Brentwood eatery’s quesabirria tacos have come from as far as Boston and Philadelphia.

Chez Dior: The Hyattsville Senegalese restaurant gets praise for “time-honored classics” like thieboudienne, which many call the national dish of Senegal.

Franklins: The long-standing Hyattsville hangout’s outdoor Quarantiki Room is cited, along with its “family-friendly, no fuss gastropub grub” and “quixotic general store.”

2Fifty Texas BBQ: The Riverdale Park BBQ joint’s “500-gallon offset smoker powered by white oak and post oak” gets a loving review.

The Station at Riverdale Park Food Hall: The as-yet unnamed food hall coming to the Station at Riverdale Park this summer also isn’t open yet, but it’s already getting a shoutout.

The piece also recommends Federalist Pig’s food truck in Hyattsville, Denizens Brewing Co.’s Riverdale Park brewery, Vigilante Coffee’s Hyattsville roastery and Brentwood’s Relish Market.
