President Biden Visits Little Wild Things Farm Off Route 1 to Promote Stimulus

Yesterday, President Joe Biden stopped by a community-supported farm to promote pandemic aid. The farm recently began selling its salad share to residents along the Route 1 corridor.

The president visited the woman-owned and operated Little Wild Things Farm location inside W.S. Jenks, D.C.’s oldest hardware store just off Route 1 Alternate and minutes south of the National Arboretum, to talk about the Paycheck Protection Program, which the Biden administration tweaked amid concerns too much aid went to bigger businesses.

Both received emergency loans in February through a two-week program to help businesses with fewer than 20 employees.

Biden wore two masks while talking with Little Wild Things Farm owner Mary Anna Ackley during the 30-minute visit.

“Thank you @potus for making this the most exciting day ever at Little Wild Things Farm for me and my team!” she wrote on Instagram.

Before the pandemic, Little Wild Things sold microgreens, salad shoots, and edible flowers to restaurants and caterers from its indoor location and its outdoor farm at the Carmelite Monastery on Route 1, but when business cratered last year due to the pandemic it shifted to salad share offering now available to most residents on the Route 1 corridor.
