The Station at Riverdale Park recently added new classic picnic tables with umbrellas on its sidewalks, expanding its outdoor seating options as warmer weather approaches.
Large wooden picnic tables with green umbrellas have been placed in front of restaurants, such as in front of Denizens Brewing Co. at 4550 Van Buren St.
With warmer weather returning, more restaurants on the Route 1 corridor will be taking advantage of outdoor seating, and the Station’s operators said they were making as much available as possible.
“Ample benches in Bear Square are always available for community use,” Katie Gantt, marketing director for Calvin Cafritz Enterprises told the Hyattsville Wire. “Additional open seating areas at Riverdale Park Station include picnic tables on 45th Street and the portico of FedEx.”
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan lifted statewide indoor capacity limits on restaurants, bars and gyms as of Friday, but Prince George’s County officials are moving more cautiously, raising the limit from 25 to 50 percent.
But with six-feet requirements for social distancing, that doesn’t add much for some smaller eateries.
Ben Epstein, owner of the Board and Brew in College Park, told the Washington Post that even doubling the capacity just meant he could add one or two more tables.
