A Colombian restaurant in College Park is earning rave reviews for its authentic dishes.
Ritchie’s Colombian Restaurant opened several months ago next to Kung Fu Tea in the commercial strip at 7313 Baltimore Ave., after co-owner Ricardo Rivera lost work in construction due to the pandemic.
The menu comes from his wife, Luz Ocampo, and focuses on authentic Colombian dishes, including empanadas and 11 types of arepas as well as classic dishes like bandeja paisa, arroz con pollo and ropa vieja.
The restaurant also serves various kinds of sweet and savory crepes.
Several Hyattsville Wire readers have written in to recommend Ritchie’s for its authentic Colombian food, which they would otherwise have to drive in to D.C. to find, and its colorful interior, which includes different kinds of cowboy hats used as decoration.
The couple, who previously ran a bakery in D.C. called Ritchie’s Cafe, which they had to shut down because of the pandemic, told the Diamondback that they hope to expand so that they can add more complex Colombian dishes to the menu.
Ritchie’s Colombian is open every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Indoor dining and pick-up are also available.
