CD Depot is a throwback to a simpler time in the music industry.
Located at 9039 Baltimore Ave. by the Bowlero bowling alley, the College Park store has a massive collection of new and used CDs as well as DVDs, vinyl records and video games for xBox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube.
It is the largest independent music store in the Mid-Atlantic, with more than 100,000 CDs in everything from classical to gospel, reggae, bluegrass and world music.
Want to check it out before you buy? The 8,000-square-foot store has listening stations where you can play a CD.
Though CD stores have been hurt by the rise of streaming services like Spotify, CD Depot’s flagship store in College Park and its sister store in Towson have beaten the trend by selling online at eBay and Half.com.
These are actually better places to buy CDs online now than even Amazon, since it can take weeks to get even a relatively recent CD delivered.
If you have switched entirely to streaming music, you can also sell your old CDs for cash. Buying hours are generally 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.
