La Doñita Pollo a la Brasa, a popular Bladensburg restaurant serving Central American cuisine, expanded with a new Hyattsville location earlier this year.
Located at 6543 Ager Rd. near the intersection of East West Highway and Riggs Road, La Doñita Latin Deli also serves popular dishes from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, similar to its Bladensburg restaurant.
The varied menu includes dishes like baleadas hondureñas, a large flour tortilla with refried beans, scrambled eggs and queso fresco that’s very filling for a $5 dish; surprisingly sweet plantain empanadas; yuca fries; desayuno tipico, a standard breakfast; and pechuga a la plancha, a flavorful marinated and grilled chicken dish.
The menu also features typical Mexican dishes like beef quesadillas and street tacos and the classic Mexican-American indulgence asada fries.
After running La Doñita 4907 57th Ave. in Bladensburg for the last three years, owner Dora Perez, who is from El Salvador, opened the second eatery in Hyattsville in February, a restaurant manager told the Hyattsville Wire.
Food is available for takeout and delivery, and the eateries can be found on Seamless, Doordash, Uber Eats, Postmates and Grubhub.
The Route 1 corridor has become a hotspot for Central American cuisine in recent years, thanks to the high number of immigrants from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.
