Four Route 1 Metro stations are slated to reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

The West Hyattsville, Hyattsville Crossing (previously known as Prince George’s Plaza), College Park and Greenbelt stations closed for repairs at the end of May, although commuters had the option of taking a shuttle bus to Fort Totten.

The closures were part of extensive renovations of 20 of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s 45 outdoor station platforms, which have fallen into disrepair from routine wear and tear and exposure to the weather.

The renovations included new slip-resistant tiles, stainless-steel platform shelters with windscreens and USB charging ports, LED-illuminated handrails, more electrical outlets, renovated bathrooms and LED lighting, among other things.

The stations will have twice as many digital screens showing upcoming trains and service alerts, which will now scroll along the bottom.

WMATA is also upgrading faregates across the system. You can check here to see if your SmarTrip card needs to be replaced.
