See the ‘Tower of Light’ Sept 11. Memorial at the Pentagon From Route 1

From most parts of the Route 1 corridor this weekend, you will likely see a long beam of blue light shining towards the sky.

That’s the “Tower of Light” tribute on display at the Pentagon which marks the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack.

Made up of 44 individual lights, the light beam can reach 18,000 feet and be seen as far as 60 miles away on a clear night.

Similar tributes are taking place at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pa., and in New York City.

Neighbors have also been placing flowers at the University Park memorial on Wells Parkway to Charles Falkenberg and Leslie Whittington and their children Zoe and Dana, who were on the flight that hit the Pentagon.
